How to Set the Loop Count for Segments/Loops in G-Cases

Users can change the Loop Count for each Segment/Loop within a G-Case. This value determines the number of times the Segment/Loop will be generated and has a default value of 1.

This value may be changed for each Segment/Loop within a G-Case as needed to generate a large variety of EDI test data. The Loop Count can be modified to achieve the following:

  • Generate a set number of EDI Documents/Transactions Sets (e.g., 10, 100, 1000, 10000)
  • Generate a set number of Segments/Loops per generated EDI Document/Transaction Set

For example, within an 837I EDI Document, the Loop Count for Loop_2400V1 can be changed when more than one iteration is needed. Two service line iterations are required in the example below:

How to Change the Loop Count within a G-Case

Step 1: Within the G-Case Management Dashboard, make certain the EDI View option is selected within the drop-down menu located in the top left corner.

Step 2: Select the G-Case Suite and G-Case Category.

Step 3: Select the G-Case.

Step 4: Use the Filter input field to locate a specific Segment/Loop within the G-Case Editor Tab. Click on the Update Loop Count for Domain icon within the Loop Count Column.

Step 5: Select a Loop Type within the drop-down menu. The Loop Type may be one of the following:

  • Constant – The Loop Count will be set to a constant value.

  • Random – The Loop Count will be set randomly based on the entered Min and Max Range.

  • Increasing – The Loop Count will be set in an increasing order based on the entered Min and Max Range.

  • Decreasing – The Loop Count will be set in a decreasing order based on the entered Min and Max Range.

Note:Min Range and Max Range are required when the Random, Increasing, or Decreasing option is selected.

Step 6: Enter the values based on the selected Loop Type. For this example, we have chosen the Constant Loop Type and changed the Loop Count to 2.

Step 7: Click the Save button.

Loop_2400V1 will now have a 2 in the Loop Count Column within the G-Case Editor Tab, as shown below.
